I didn't know her before, but yes. Just someone who happened to have a free room.

People here are really friendly. Aren't they? ...A girl did the same to me when I got here. I'd known her an hour at the most and she wanted to stay with me.

A little oddly-trusting, maybe. Not that I can complain.
