[ So this thing is happening. Bummer. Who will live? Who will die!? It'll be very dramatic I'm sure. Man, their lives sure do suck, huh? ]

[he pauses to think for a moment, but his decision is interrupted by the sound of water beginning to trickle in. good job dumbasses, you're too slow.]

[oh shit oh fuck oh man oh god]

[yes, all of those things. he grips the knife harder.]

Turn around. You're not going to watch.

[wirsinddiejager]

[still wants to argue but it has only made things worse so far. not going to turn around without saluting first though.]

[you know what kid, you're alright. that's what he'd say if he were the type to say things like that. but he's not, so he just nods once and then turns around and walks through the water as far as he can before hitting the dome wall. he stares at it for a minute, wondering if that woman is watching from the other side, gleefully anticipating what comes next. he wants to flip her off, but doesn't want to give her the satisfaction that would probably provide.

so he rests the edge of the knife against his neck, as calmly as he possibly can. he always knew he might have to die for this kid someday, but like this? by his own hand? it was nauseating. almost unbearably so. and so, before it (and the rising water) could creep up enough to hinder his strength, he yanked the blade straight across his neck, quickly and as hard as he could.

there's a small sound between a splash and a thunk as the knife drops, and then a louder one before the water begins to turn red.

he dies as he had lived: a bad motherfucker.]

[Eren's already tensing in preparation before he hears the knife drop. when it does, he closes his eyes despite his back being turned, trying to somehow close out what's happening. it's bad enough that people have died for his sake before, but he never actually thought it could happen to Levi. not like this, at least. humanity's strongest soldier deserved better than dying in some sick, twisted game.

but that's what happened and Eren was completely helpless to stop it. even after all this time, things haven't changed a bit from that day. when he opens his eyes, for a second he's back there, a child watching blood spraying through the air like rain. reality isn't all that different in any way that matters.

and then, with a sickening lurch, he finds himself back in the garden.]
