Levi, crazy glasses lady, scarf girl, and tiny blonde are all in a room with Eren, who is in bed and has apparently just woken up. Eren seems surprised that he slept an entire day, so Glasses asks him if he remembers the experiments they ran. He doesn't, but he asks how the "hardening" went. Glasses says that it wasn't successful. Because this so-called hardening didn't work, they went with their back-up plan and performed intelligence tests on titan-Eren. Turns out he was able to follow simple orders, but was not able to speak. He was able to build a (human-sized) house with logs and rope, but after an hour had passed, his writing on the ground started to get jumbled - something about his dad? He then writhed for half an hour and then exited titan form of his own volition, half-conscious. After another half hour of rest, he shifted back, still couldn't harden, couldn't understand orders, ate the house he built, ran around a bit, and then passed out. Another half-hour rest... you get the idea. This time, they could barely remove him from the titan.

Eren is understandably disappointed, saying he won't be able to retake Wall Maria for awhile at this rate, because he couldn't harden himself. Levi speaks up, confirming that they, too, are disappointed, and that everyone's been miserable. They can't waste any more time, he says. Who knows what will happen next? It's a "shitty situation." Scarf speaks up, saying Eren did his best, but Levi continues to complain. But he's not blaming Eren, he explains. He's just being an asshole. Complaining is an important ritual. He goes on to say that it's been shit inside the walls for a hundred years, but he always thought it was normal until he went outside. It's hell out there, but it's free. Glasses cuts in and tells Eren that what Levi is trying to say is that they've successfully learned he can't harden his titan. They learned a bunch of other things, too. So, they keep fighting. Levi more or less agrees.

After a moment, Eren seems to have gotten a headache. Scarf encourages him to rest more. Glasses continues - what are their next steps? Looking into the "wallists." They know something they're not sharing about the fact that the walls are made of hardened titans (???). And Erwin, who is in the royal capital, should now know something about why the Reiss family, but not the king himself, is allowed to hear this secret.
